Build your own 12v Soundsystem
Taking every place every Wednesday from 6PM at the Lincluden Community Centre. Sound Systems is a project for young people to learn the art of MC’ing DJ’ing and the art of music composition whilst building their own bike-transportable 12-volt Soundsystem to be ran and operated by the community at the end of the 10 week project.
DMC teamed up with Organised Noise, Creative Futures and the Stove Network.
The project kicked off with a visit to Maxwellton High School where pupils and staff were invited to experience the power of a full scale, hand-made sound system in the flesh and learn about the project, featuring South African dance troupe Be United.
In the evening, a taster session took place at the Stove Network with workshops on cable making, DJing and Mcing as a well as a live showcase in the evening featuring artists and songwriters from Easterhouse, where Sound Systems inaugural project took place.
In association with Dumfries Music Conference, Creative Futures L+L, The Stove Network, Organised Noise and the Youth Music Initiative.
